I wrestle with the title of this slant, “the five best.” It sounds so final. Every intern has a different outcome in mind, and they also have different personalities. But there are some important and essential things that we’ve got to pass on. I’ve been chewing on this for a while. Then it occurred to me to ask my interns.
So that’s what I did. I asked my two most recent interns what they considered to be their best lessons and then made my comments (see italics). Consider this a slant within a slant. Three viewpoints in one. Right on.

¿Su grupo habla español?
They moved here from Columbia, two of the nicest kids in our youth group. But we could hardly speak to each other.

Parent Matters
What do parent's need most? I know we need help, but what kind? I'm currently thinking about topics that parents could discuss in a cafe community at our church. If I could give a parent answers and support in any area of understanding and raising their teenager, what area would that be?

For children 4 and up (Or Youth Pastors of All Ages)
I've been sitting on a secret for about six months now. It's big so you may have to sit down. I've been preaching out of a kids Bible--and it's changing my life.
In my opinion, it's one of the best ministry resources on my shelf. It's called The Jesus Storybook Bible. I came across a blog on MoreThanDodgeball.com that prompted me to buy it for my daughter. I read three pages to her then stole it away to my office. I know, that's mean, but I promise I'll share with her.
It's a Bible written for children four and up but I have LOVED using it to illustrate the stories that I'm communicating to teenagers. Even some of our adult leaders have bought this Bible for their own personal Bible study after I've shared the stories from it.
Sally Lloyd-Jones does a beautiful job connecting the threads of the Kingdom. Thank you Sally, I don't know you, but thank you.

Made me think.
How will our mission trip impact the lives of our students? Are we ready?
